The excitement started after we went to bed...that sounds wrong, get your minds out of the gutters. It was super windy when we went to sleep and then at 11:55pm all three of us woke up to a LOUD crash and the sound of the power going out. Our next door neighbor's tree split in half and fell, taking out the power line, among other things. We called 911 because of the live wires down. The firefighters came and looked at the wires then left, I guess because there was no fire and no immediate danger. We got back in to bed just after 1am, at 3am three KCPL bucket trucks showed up. The next three hours we slept off and on with the sounds of chainsaws and workers yelling in the back yard. As soon as we got up we checked out the damage in the daylight, wow!
This is about 6:30 in the morning and raining a little bit so these pictures are a bit fuzzy.
The tree took out the other neighbors shed, the fence between them, two of the back fences, and some of the branches from the tree in the next yard over.
The workers got the lines back up and the power back on sometime at 10am. We lost some of the items in our fridge but everything else was okay. We were very thankful that the tree was on the other side of the yard.
It was a very tired day on Friday, but that evening I got to go to a Mom's night out event with Casey from the Starnes Family blog-It was so much fun to meet her in real life. I can't wait for us to get together again.
