Fiona-Jo

I try not to brag much about my kids, well at least not to people who have kids around their ages. Now, grandparents, kid-less friends, etc is a different story. I have been on the opposite end of bragging and I hate it, my kids have been on the late end of average for a lot of their physical milestones and when someones child is doing something sooner than yours, it sucks! Thankfully I now brush it off, since I know my kids eventually hit their milestones-and truly they do everything before any medical professional worries.
But I'm proud. When we decided I would quit my job to stay home with the kids, we were both (along with other people around us) worried about keeping Fiona on the track she was on. She was thriving at her school, learning so much, and talking so well. Fiona's first couple of weeks home with me I tried to sit down with her and have teaching sessions, that was a huge fail- too much structure for a 2 year old. Eventually I started teaching her through our everyday happenings, we point out letters in books, shapes while we are driving, numbers in the grocery store, we count everything, etc. Here is the reward (I spent half a day uploading this since it's 3 minutes long-but it's worth it):

We were missing "A" but she's got that one too.

Here's the rest of the Fiona scoop (James is tomorrow):
-She has been without a naptime diaper for about 2 months, still in diapers at night but that's fine by me because she is still in her crib. She has had a few dry morning diapers and woke up a couple of nights to go potty.
-She is eating all kinds of food. Yesterday I was finishing my lunch, a Caesar salad, when she woke up from nap. Usually I don't eat anything with eggs in it when I'm around her, but she has never eaten a piece of lettuce or spinach (except in the smoothies we have every couple of days now) in her life. But she asked for a bite, I told her it had eggs in it so she couldn't but I would make her a salad if she wanted. So, I took a tiny bowl, cut up some red leaf lettuce, added black beans (because I had them on my salad), and a tiny bit of creamy Italian dressing. She gobbled it up, then gobbled up a second bowl-why yes, she is my child.
She also wants what James eats now, I made squash for him last week and she said "I don't like squash". I was feeding some to James and I had my bowl of squash sitting next to me and she asked to taste it, then ate half while I was feeding James.
Two nights ago she snarfed squash, couscous and mahi mahi, she did call the mahi mahi chicken but that's fine with me.
-Everyday is so much fun with her; she makes me laugh and blows my mind with her memory or something she learns.

That totally just made my night!! I was not expecting to hear her say "Tina". She is too cute. I'm very proud of you guys for her accomplishments, that is awesome to see all that she has learned from saying home with you.
Her and Jonas can sit down and eat a salad together sometime. Jonas loves red peppers and cucumbers on his :)

It is so hard to see her getting bigger. I still think of her as the little 5 month baby at work with all the smiles! Good job Clare, she is doing GREAT!!!
